Bookcraft is in the process of creating an innovative pre-press editorial and production system to offer to our academic and business publishing clients.

'Best of Both Worlds' makes optimal use of the excellent and developing skills that India has to offer, while acknowledging the experience and excellence of our team of UK-based editors and project managers.

Our sister company, Chennai-based Bookcraft India, offers typesetting and graphics skills to a high level, and is participating in a pioneering project to develop editorial training in Indian universities.

The current trend towards outsourcing in India and the Far East is of course primarily cost-driven. 'Best of Both Worlds' offers a pricing structure that suits the client's budget, but still rewards our experienced freelancers at an appropriate level. We regularly use our Indian typesetters to produce first-pass typeset texts, then our UK editors can then work on the texts within the set pages, focusing on those higher level editing issues for which stylistic judgement, linguistic expertise and awareness of subject matter are essential.
